About Deb Baker
I look forward to nonjudgmental holy listening with you and the Spirit, whether you feel God's presence or absence, are seeking spiritual practices or questioning them, attend worship regularly or haven't been in years (or ever). I've worked with people discerning God's call for them, and those trying to feel more comfortable with faith or grappling with disappointment or hurt from their spiritual community or the world. I also have experience in noticing God’s presence together with people engaged in social and climate justice work.
I'm an Episcopalian who grew up Roman Catholic with Jewish grandparents, have practiced mindfulness as well as centering prayer and contemplative practices, follow a rule of life, and enjoy a wide range of prayer practices, as well as facilitating group spiritual reflection and nature-based contemplative prayer. I will listen with an open, curious heart and can offer resources and practices to try. I trained as a spiritual director in the Tending the Holy program at Christos Center for Spiritual Formation, and also completed Navigating Climate Spiritual Care with the BTS Center, and have a particular interest in climate grief. I am an Associate in the Iona Community, and a Companion in the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross.
A longtime poet, I am also Contemplative Practices Editor at Vita Poetica.
